Solar charger for a laptop

I don't have experience with the solar powered devices for notebooks, but do remember that Patrick did construct a portable battery pack that probably could be modified to work with PV panel(s).

As far as the rugged notebook, is there a budget? Not expensive varies depending on the person.

I've seen Panansonic has new business rugged and semi-rugged notebooks that don't have the full mil-spec requirements, but appear to be better built than your typical business class notebook. Most of these notebooks don't have built in webcams though.

Otherwise, Dell, HP, or Lenovo (business class or workstation class) would be the ones that I would look at depending on the features. Some have integrated webcams while others have better battery life and some have magnesium chassis, while some also have shock mounted or protected hard drives.

Short answer is no. AVI is a very simple container, and it can't even hold subtitle tracks, much less extra file info. You might have better luck with MP4 or M4V, but I've never tried, so I have no clue.

Whatever method is used you will always be limited by your own upload speed, if for instance we wanted to send a 500mb file to one persons and one person only it would be faster using torrents because the recipient does not have to wait for the file to be completely uploaded before they can start downloading it, so as soon as the file is uploaded once (has to be uploaded once with torrents or ftp) the recipient has the file immediately after its been uploaded once, he does not have to then download the file from the ftp, so torrents would be faster than ftp under certain circumstances.

Most of those browsers are just defaulting to save on the desktop and that can be changed in the browser settings. Just choose a different folder.
