Why not quads? They can be twice as fast as dual cores when you use professional software that is written to use them. And both the AMD and Intel quad processors are very reasonable (if you stay away from the i7 for a few months)

Just because you are paranoid, that doesn't mean that they are not out to get you or your kid.

The reality is that social engineering is the easiest way to hack something. Looking over your kids shoulder, asking what the password is, guessing what it is because you know they love smurfs, etc.

Erasing cookies is a good idea, periodically, but cookies are pretty benign.

This is a problem with the borg, its hard to keep clean

News about Macworld will be as overblown and out of touch with reality as it always has been, even without His Holiness and Supreme Master Commander Lord Steve.

New i7 Cores or the usual Quad-Core processors?

Yep, color me "me too" on that one. When I can get a motherboard that supports the core-2 series of quad cores for $60 or less versus an i7 motherboard at $300 plus, and then I have to stuff it with a processor that is $300 at the bottom end of performance and I can get similar stats in a higher end core-2 for less money by overclocking, there's no debate. And then there's the issue of having to buy all new memory. I'm not going to pay that much just to show off.

When I can get an i7 and motherboard combo for around $300 and it still has the option of using DDR2, I'll think about it.

Save yourself a boatload of money a get a used or a new but not the latest technology machine. Since most of the options are apple, I have a funny feeling someone's mind is already made up.

HAHA! "Snotty Belmont." I see a recurring character. Although, I don't think anyone will watch the show if I do that....

I could imagine it being an occasional sketch in the same vein as Amanda Bynes character - "Ask Ashley" - from All That.

Crazy example:

"Dear Heat Sink Conundrum: Why of course it's fine to run your new quad core processor without a heat sink. In the wacky land you live in, with fairytale monsters and tap dancing hamburgers, anything is possible. While you're at it, consider resting your tongue on the processor as it starts up, or sticking your fingers in the nearest wall socket. What a moron!
