Episode 81 - Back to Kindergarten with Photoshop

Monday, May 5th, 2008 - running time 00:19:30

Bert goes back to Kindergarten this week to show us how to create a childlike paper illustration using Adobe Photoshop.

Bert's childlike drawing is no easy feat. Bert uses various Photoshop elements in order to create a very simplistic drawing. First, Bert forms background colors (that are later merged with shapes) by using the line tool, noise filter, facet filter and various patterns. Using the lasso tool, Bert creates a ground on the floor. Using the pen tool, Bert creates cutout trees. And finally, using the circle tool, Bert creates the sun and its rays. The paper illustration pops out with layer effects(drop shadow and bevel/emboss) and the burn and dodge tool. Bert also adds a "Hi" using the polygonal lasso tool and unique brush stroke.

Don't forget to design and e-mail Bert a background for our green screen! Please send a jpg design with size 1280x720 pixels.
