Default V - The Thread

Thoughts??

I had a hard time trying to keep up with the accelerated storyline at times. I know they need to do that to get the basic premise set up for the series, but I wasn't impressed by how they did it.

Overall - I'll keep watching. Tuesday night is pretty much dead on the TV for me, and it wasn't terrible, but so far it hasn't lived up to the memories I have of watching the original miniseries back in the early 80's (which creeped me out ... who can look the same way at a guinea pig now?). Hope it'll build steam and become a good update.

Wow, I really liked it.

Not only was it good, but there is a lot of potential for what the show could be.

It's weird though that in the original, the reporter guy who ended up leading the resistance was the friggin Beastmaster, and now it's Bailey.

It's on my tiVo. I spent last night watching more of the original mini-series.

I am going to try and watch ASAP, but I'd really like to get the TRS guy's opinions. Maybe they should wait for a few more episodes to air.

I am crossing my fingers, but my expectations are low.

HA! Yeah, I wary of "Bailey". I think we can all agree (sight unseen) that it needs more Michael Ironside ... w/ MAC-10s!!

I remember as a wee lad thinking - the humans are toast. There is no way to defeat them unless they steal a bunch of laser guns ... Oh hey! It's that freaky dude from Scanners with that fat biker looking guy who's in everything and they have mega-bullets. ROCK ON!!

*spoilers*

I felt like the episode was a little rushed. As soon as they jumped to 3 weeks later I was really put off because I would've liked to see what happened in those 3 weeks. Cause then it also felt rushed when they revealed that they were lizards and who were lizards.

For example, when they were at that underground meeting, the one guy was like "hey they are lizards, we should fight them, blah blah." How exactly did he know? when did he find out? how did he find out? Just seemed like a lot happened in those 3 weeks and we missed out. Or maybe they are going to do the flashback thing, and then it's going to be another LOST spinoff.

I think I'm going to watch the rest of the original series before I watch anymore of this. I liked it, but I think I enjoyed the first 2 hours of the original miniseries more than this.

~Spoilers!~

The resistance had been around a lot longer than just those 3 weeks. The way the resistance leader guy and Morris Chestnut were interacting, it seemed like the resistance has been around for years (long enough for Morris Chestnut to leave, change his life around, find a girl and get engaged).

Keep in mind they said that Vs had been living among us in disguise for years before the ships arrived, preparing us for their arrival.

That was my biggest problem with the show as well.

I liked the revelations in the fight at the resistance meeting, and the promise of things to come from the "scenes from upcoming season" ... but I feel that slowing it down a fraction and developing the backplot a little further would make for a richer story.

Something I hope you all realise is that we are getting a 4 episode chunk of the story ... then it is going into hiatus over Christmas, returning in March.

ABC aren't going to film any episodes past the 4th one until they get feedback on the series. Doesn't speak particularly strongly of ABCs commitment to the series ... its almost as if it was shot for Fox (with 2 Firefly alum, cancellation is almost expected).

I'm kind of weird when it comes to new shows, i think im kind of afraid to get hooked because there's already so many other shows im liking. and i felt that way about this show but the show kept pulling me in making me want to see more.

so so far this seems like a good show and something i will be watching for the rest of the season but it also seems like its a show that should only last 1 season it would seem kind of weird to me if it went longer.

The pilot sucked, it was boring, unoriginal/predictable, and had poor acting.

Yeah the son of the FBI woman from LOST was someone I could not stand.

As for it being boring, I never really found that it was. However, it did seem that the pace of the show was turned up and down way too much.

Unoriginal and predictable...well it WAS based on a show from the 80's so I don't know what the problem is there. Especially if you've seen it. You should expect it to be that for a little bit, till it fleshes out into it's own show.

I thought it was really badly paced, had very dull characters, a boring script and terrible acting. Basically it was shit. Nearly as bad as flashforward. ABC want a lost replacement really bad.. but they have no clue what makes that show a success. They think it has something to do with the pilot having a CG aircraft crash .... Idiots.

So I won't be watching any more of V.
