We've decided to start up a thread for any budding writers or artists who would be interested in pairing off for some mini comic projects. The goal is simply to learn about the process of creative collaboration and to have some fun in the process. This is not a contest.
We have a lot of talented people on the boards, and it would be really cool to combine forces. I'm also hoping it will keep you off the streets, you rowdy lot of hooligans. That said, let's introduce ourselves. Any writers or artists interested in trying this out, consider posting a profile. Would you like to write or draw? What are your favorite genres/mediums/styles? Do you have any creative influences? Briefly describe the types of project you'd like to work on What are you looking for in a writer or artist? Also, consider this a good place to discuss writing and art in general. Let us know what you're working on.

I am interested in writing something. I should have mentioned that in my first post.
I think a lot of people have a sense by now of my interests and the like. If you're into my ridiculousness, I may be the writer for you. PM me, reply here, send me something at Virb, send me a message in a bottle or a smoke signal. I'm flexible.

Alright so obviously my name is Lindsey and I would like to draw.
I am looking for a 3-4 page comic with emphasis on character interaction and possibly humor or action scenes. I really enjoycrazy pulpish space things that sometimes include dinosaurs piloting rocketships. I like to color with markers although I am pretty handy with photoshop. I have some experience doing comics, which awkwardly enough started with doing a 24 hour comic about lesbian highschool romance, and field hockey. The art is not the best because of the strict time limit, but I learned a lot doing it. My big project for a while has been an urban slice of life superhero thing which focuses a lot on celtic mythology and what ancestral ties mean in modern America. I recently finished the 16 page first issue (kinda) in black and white. As for styles, I would like a project for which I could play with either a really toony simplified style or an extremely verristic one. I used to draw manga, but that part of my brain was forcibly removed and now when you try to get me to draw anything anime this is what happens. I am looking for a writer who would like to work in either the slice of life, superhero, or possibly science fiction genres and is patient but dilligent. I don't mind nagging as long as its good hearted, but I am probably going to be reasonably busy this summer so understanding is a must. Also, I would appreciate a writer who is willing to help find/take reference photos or illustrations to help with scripting issues, even if it's just the result of a google search. Hopefully someone is willing to put up with my crazy antics.

That's exactly the kind of thing we're looking for Lindsey.
You bring up a good point too. Whenever youe have two different people working on a project together, time's a big issue. It's not a great idea to demand a really strict deadline because we all have different schedules and responsibilities. So, as long as the teams are on the same page about time and effort expectations, just consider this a spair time sort of diversion. Me, I'm insanely busy for the next few weeks. But I'd like to put something together in June. Talking about it yesterday, Lindsey came up with the idea of doing character designs. I think that's a great way to start, and it can lead to something a little more ambitious down the road. I'd also suggest trying a comic strip format, maybe a one, three, or six panel story.

Thanks, Fred. I wish I had better stuff to show honestly but all my good serious artwork is back home.

Would you be interested in an intro to my (wannabe) creator owned series in which you basically you draw the world gone to hell from a few different angles?

Also I forgot to include any examples of anything approaching realism so uh, I can do that too more or less.

Six Gun; sounds cool, but how long are you thinking? Also, what kind of imagery are we dealing with? Basically I am intrigued and would like more info.
