Sequentially Ever After, iFanboy's first comics creation contest, has come to a close. You can check out the winning submissions and some runners up on the main site, but we also wanted to offer a place to display all the other entries. If you'd like to show off your finished projects, please post them here. Offering a sample page or image followed by a link to the rest of the project is probably the best route, but if you need any help, just send me a direct message and we'll set you up.
Thanks, Paul

Holy crap, the entries on the iFanboy site are ridiculous.
Over the course of the contest I ended up spending about two weeks moving and then there was some family misfortune and I spent last wednesday and thursday completing six or seven pages. I'm very happy I found the time to complete it and very happy with the end result. The time issues didn't force me to compromise much of what I initially intended, just made me do it all in a shorter time frame. And not only do I have the artistic ability of a five year old but I also have the attention span of one so being forced to finish it all over a couple of days without much down time was actually pretty fun. It took me a while to just give in and do a fairy tale that everyone knew about but once I settled on just doing Little Red Riding Hood it wasn't too hard. The only thing that I changed because of time constraints was that I initially wanted dialog through out instead of just on the first page but it's not like it's a particularly deep or engaging story, so I think I did the best I could. So, armed with my shadowline Ted McKeever Library hardcovers, and Matt Wagner's Devil by the Deed and Red/White/Black issues I attempted to emulate (rip off, rather) all the cool stuff that I love in those books. So here you go: The Hair of the Wolf (I think I messed up the permalink structure of my wordpress thing for the time being, but that link SHOULD work fine - just click the little arrow to see the next page) I had a great time, no complaints, loved the entries on the site. Hope tohers share!

So how can I post my 10 page word script here? I have no clue how to.

When I post scripts on iFanboy, I save the pages as jpgs, and then just post them as images.
Or if you could upload the pdf somewhere, you could post a link to it. Or just cut and paste the thing.

What Josh said.
If all else fails, the toolbar in your posting window (not visible in quick reply) includes a paperclip attachment button. Use this to attach a text file to your post. I'd also include a synopsis of your story or a pasted excerpt to entice people to click for the rest. (I've never tried the attachment option, but I assume that's how it works.)

These submissions were stellar. I wasn't expecting to win anything, as this was my first script of anything, but I had a ton of fun, and I want to do it again. I was hoping I could get some input on what would have made my script work better. I want to hone my skills, but I need your help to do it. I have an idea of what worked and what didn't, but I'd love to hear what others have to say.
This idea started off just as a what if. What if a story with a happy ending for one character created a miserable ending for an equally good character. This evolved into a retelling of the Book of Job, from the bible, with a cameo from another well known story. Here's the first five pages. I'll post the second half in my next post. Again, I'd love to hear what you think. Also, great work everybody, this was an awesome event. Can't wait for the next one. |

And the stunning conclusion...
Oh, yeah, the title is: The Book of Joey B. |

Joey B. was a great script, Russ. One of the more inventive adaptations, I thought.

Thanks, Paul, I appreciate that. I'm really proud of my work, and I think I did the best job I possibly could at that point in time. Being a musician, I know there's always things to work on and areas to get better in. Receiving praise is always fun, but more than that, I'd love to know in what ways I could improve my writing. For example, I really have no idea what an artist is looking for in a script, so I'm not sure how well my script addressed what information an artist needs. It would be great to see an artist attempt to draw it, actually, just to see what things get lost in translation.
I can't say it enough, Paul, but thanks so much for holding this competition. The results were amazing, and I do not envy your job as the arbiter of taste ![]() |
