Default SIEGE: what came before it?

I would like to know all of the comics I'll have to read to so I can start reading the new Marvel: Siege that comes out soon... I fell a bit behind

I don't think you really need to read anything. All you have to know is Norman Osborn is the villain in every single Marvel comic book right now and he wants to attack Asgard. And the Avengers (the real Avengers, not the whiny babies who cry about other people's clothes all issue) haven't been together for years.

If you REALLY want to read some stuff, I'd suggest the books of the three characters thiss tory will focus on most: Iron man, Captain America and Thor.

He took a gigantic gun and shot the Skrull Queen in the head. Apparently, in the Marvel U, being a good shot with a gun that's bigger than you are makes you qualified to have control of the entire super-human community, even though you are a criminally insane, murdering, psychopath who was publicly revealed on national TV to have been a super-villain.

Well, I think they were going on the idea of public perception. Osborn became a hero once he killed the queen. Similar things have happened in human history. So I don't think it's too far of a reach. It just sucks that the whole Osborn thing has been dragged out as long as it has, but I've enjoyed it for the most part.

To bring it back, all you really need to read is Civil War and Secret Invasion. Both of those events lead into the Siege.

Some other things you could read include Avengers: Disassembled, New Avengers, and Mighty Avengers. Those will add more detail to the Civil War/Secret Invasion storyline.

I say this with all seriousness: You don't really need to read anything. The issues of the Siege will have a "catch up" text at the beginning of each issue that will give you the information you'll need to know. Also, there's Wikipedia and other sources where you can get caught up on the Cliffs Notes of what's been going on.

I have no idea. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed.

When I first heard about Dark Reign, I was hoping it would somehow involve Doom being in control. He may be a merciless dictator, but Latveria has 100% employment and great healthcare.

I said similar. War heroes often become leaders of countries...czars, presidents, premiers, prime ministers, etc.
