REALLY!...I mean REALLY! Has anyone else noticed the ridiculous amount that comic-con is asking this year for the 4-day package w/o preview night $100 per person. $25 up from last year. Keep in mind that this is classified as a non-profit organization (a means for any organization to NOT pay taxes). Add that to their already ticket sales cap (albeit more having to do with the fire marshal) and this is one show that is getting carried away.
Sure I love to go but what does that do for people who have families, out of city and/or out of state. Yes there is the smaller Wonder Con but have you seen the new date. BLAM! Smack dab on Good Friday/Easter Weekend. Someone or several someone’s are slipping in this organization. So what are they doing? "pushing" certain groups out via income levels or do they not mind seeing people get into debt by charging credit cards up just for a yearly event. Now I rarely ever vent on here and prefer to discuss the topics brought up on the show. However, I think people need to understand that when we pull together as consumers we actually DO have power to control prices. BOYCOTT IT! it comes every year why not? Show them that we won't tolerate the price. I wonder if the price isn't a means to charge US the Attendee, money for the appearence of the stars.....lHmmmmmmm. regardless of what Google says no the economy is NOT better yet just because THEY made profit. We are still in a semi-recessive state and these prices are NOT justified.

I actually like it. From what I've heard the crowds and lines are RIDICULOUS and anything that reduces the number of people going makes the experience better for people who do go. That said, it's not really fair to cut out a large portion of the fan base who can't/isn't willing to shell out the extra $25.

They're going to sell out regardless and 25bucks a day isn't really all that expensive, is it? It's significantly less than you'd pay to go to an amusement park or a ballgame with decent seats.

They could probably double their price and it would still sell out months ahead of time. There is a ridiculous amount of content packed into the convention to make it well worth $25 a day.

You couldn't be more wrong. Other large conventions in the same general scope as ComicCon charge anywhere from 30 dollars a day to 40 dollars a day depending on when you purchase.
I know a few things about the logistics of these conventions and trust me - they aren't milling you for money. |

I dunno. I can see people saying its expensive if they grew up with it and live in the area. For me its a trip or vacation.
I went to my first con last year. I flew from Canada. Never been outside of the country before and just went on a trip to California. The place on heard about on tv all my life but never thought I would really be there for any reason. I spend a lot more on the plane and the hotel then I did for the 75 dollar ticket, so it meant nothing to me to pay that. Also on the hotels tv, it said that comic con lost money last year. They turn away as much business as they get. That's probably the reason for the higher price |

Comic Con is fun, Price is still cheap for everything you get to experience, not everyone is christian stop complaining if you want to worship a zombie then you make that choice to celebrate that weekend other people can have fun. Comic Con is a mecca where people will pay however much it is to go, and I agree with Tsmith the less people the shorter the lines = more fun for the people who do go. Just because YOU are unsatisfied doesn't mean you should come onto the forums and tell everyone to boycott it, we are all individuals who can think for ourselves, and I (like many of my TRS friends) will be attending Comic Con again. Stop complaining, and don't go.

Consider this, GenCon, which is about 1/6th the size, is roughly $70 for3 days, and you have to buy tickets and register for events and courses.
Now granted hotel and such is cheaper, cause its Indy, and there is a Palomino across from the conference center they have some of the best crab dip. But still, Comic Con is the best conference I have ever been too. And I have gone to some industry conferences where big pharma and DME companies comp the booze and those can get pretty good if you know what I mean. So, no, I don't have a problem with the price. I just bought two tickets last week. Can't wait!
