I'm glad to see that someone is actually thinking about down sides to electric cars. Yes, they are cleaner to drive. But ultimately that electricity has to come from somewhere. I'm waiting to see how many people quit screaming "Go electric!" when they realize the new power plant is going to be built in their back yard. Especially for ones being built in the People's Republic of Kalifornistan.

And Patrick is right. Yeah, $600 for a dongle that does 5GHz is a high price for a hobbyist. But for a wireless network tech who regularly needs a wi-fi spectrum analyzer that handles 5GHz, $600 is chump change for a setup like that. To put it in to perspective, a similar device from Fluke (the AnalyzeAir) in my area sells for just shy of $4000...and that is just for the cards and the software and doesn't even include the laptop to use it with. A shop could fit out 6 technicians with the top-dog Channalyzer for that same money.

About those induction chargers, any figures on efficiency? Do they waste energy but look cool?

Default Windows 7 Upgrade Question from Penn State

Just to clarify. The Windows 7 version available for sale at Penn State for students is Vista Ultimate, not Home Premium. That can account for quite a bit of the price difference. You also receive the media and is available in 32 and 64 bit versions.

Keep up the great work.

Just boring show...and again with this Truecrypt that nobody uses at lest home.

For the next show give Mr. Norton aka Commander a sandwich with majo that will stop changing the subject every 5s.

I've got to be honest, I've been skipping through Tekzilla a lot recently but this week I watched through it without even thinking of skipping ahead. It was a great episode imo and I like it when Patrick and Veronica are a little less scripted and go off on tangents.

Has the lighting or something else changed? It looked a lot lighter and 'nicer' overall. One last thing, I know it was a little touch and not even sure if it was intended, but as the show opened I liked how they zoomed into the set very slightly. It just looked cool.

I like the idea of electric cars, but I have to agree. they should do a study to see if the emissions from gasoline cars is less, or more to the emission created at the power plant if that same car were electric. And the price? Electric motors aren't a new thing, neither are batteries.
