Epic Fu Comes to Revision3

on June 6th, 2008 at 09:22 am by Jim Louderback in Announcements

This truly is an epic announcement. I’m overjoyed to say that the amazingly entertaining, cool and ground-breaking show Epic Fu is now a part of the Revision3 lineup.

You can read all about it in our Revision3 Epic Fu press release. But let me just add a few more comments.

First, if you’ve never seen Epic Fu, you are in for a BIG treat. The show is wonderfully produced, full of great information about the web and modern culture, and so fast paced, even the Taz the hyperactive Tasmanian Devil would love it.

Second, host Zadi Diaz is a legitimate force on the internet. She’s developed an amazingly strong and loyal fan base, and via their innovative social network, Epic Fu has created an awesome on-line community, called MIX that extends the experience of the show out in virtually every direction. I’m excited to both bring Revision3’s core audience into that community, and to learn from them as we extend and enhance the communities around our other shows.

Finally, producer Steve and Zadi are some of the nicest people I’ve ever had the privilege to work with. Someone said to me recently that the truly talented are the most humble and real, and that obnoxiously over the top egotists are comparatively lacking in the talent department. If that’s true, Steve and Zadi are prime examples. They are genuine, real, talented and wonderful to work with. I encourage you to watch, download and subscribe. I know you’ll quickly become a passionate Epic Fu fan… just like me!

Presents for our founding Revision3/Diggnation subscribers!

on April 28th, 2008 at 04:01 pm by Stephanie Chu in Announcements

Stephanie Mack in her Limited Edition Diggnation T-shirtThis has been a long time coming, but our gifts to our founding Diggnation members are here. A few months ago, we updated our release policy to allow all Revision3 viewers to enjoy the same video releases for free at the same time, retiring our advanced access to Diggnation for members. We wanted to say “thank you” to those who had paid annual memberships in our early days - your support hasn’t gone unnoticed!

To give you a preview of your gifts, the Revision3 staff has taken the time (after work, of course) to model the limited edition 2008 Diggnation shirts. Those of you who registered with us as paid members in the past will receive these in the mail except yours will be extra cool because they’ll be signed by Kevin Rose! We think the shirts came out awesome, and hope you do, too.

When you get your shirts, maybe you can take a picture of yourself and post ‘em in the forums. Enjoy the photos!

Revision3 Shows Nominated and Honored by the Webbys

on April 10th, 2008 at 02:28 pm by Ron Richards in Announcements

webbys.jpgThe Webby awards have been around for a long time, not as long as the Internet, but long enough. In fact, this year is the 12th year for the celebrated Internet awards. You can imagine how excited we were to hear that not only were we nominated/honored once, but three times!

Diggnation was nominated in the Online Film & Video > Technology category and the Totally Rad Show was nominated in the Online Film & Video > Variety category. In addition to that, Tekzilla was an honoree in the Online Film & Video > Technology category.

Of course what fun would be these awards be if you couldn’t get involved? Luckily you can!. Just head over to the Webby’s People Voice site and you can let your voice be heard. Voting is so much fun, don’t stop just at voting, but be sure to tell your friends to go vote!

We’re honored to be nominated and we’d be even more honored if you would take the time to vote for us. Best of luck to all the other nominees and we look forward to seeing who wins!

thanks.

Revision3 Triumphs Over Digg

on April 9th, 2008 at 09:25 am by Ron Richards in Announcements

April 8, 2008 - San Francisco

Opening Day for the spring 2008 Dodgeball season got underway with a dramatic matchup between crosstown rivals, Revision3 and Digg. The seasoned veterans from Digg squared off with the scrappy upstart rookies of Revision3 in a dramatic contest of throwing and dodging balls. Team Revision3 featured stars from across the network and were clad in black and green with a vague sense of the rules.

Squaring off in a best of 9 contest, Digg broke away with an early lead up 2-0 thanks to the dominance of “Double Baller” Kurt W., but that just appeared to be the learning curve that Revision3 needed who quickly tied it back up at 2-2. The dramatic back and forth continued and when the dust settled, Digg was up 4-2 and the game was on the line for the team of video upstarts from Revision3. Slowly but surely Revision3 fought back bringing the game to a tie score, 4-4.

With the final match underway, the game on the line, even Edwin the ref commented on the drama of this match. Digg seemed to have the advantage, but very quickly the tide turned thanks to the on the court wizardry of Brad Murphy and Glenn McElhose delivered victory for the Revision3 team.

Revision3 Coach David Prager stated in a press conference after the game, “Digg came to play dirty, but little did they realize that we can play dirtier.” In a post game interview, Digg’s Kevin Rose said, “I founded both companies…I’m going to join the Revision3 team now…”.

The entire event was streamed live via Qik and can be viewed below:

30 Minutes of Gameplay:

The dramatic final match, with victory to Revision3 at the 3:15 mark:

Some comments from the viewing audience on Qik included:
belthesar: Rev3’s clearly taking performance enhancing steroids.
maddie!: i…i…dont know who to root for! rev3 & digg are both so awesome!
motionblur: kevin should fire the digg staff and hire better players
